A puppy’s behavior develops within the adoptive family’s environment, training, and circumstances. Because the rescue cannot assess what happens after adoption, later behavior concerns are the owner’s responsibility and are evaluated as non-behavior-related return requests.

The rescue offers guidance, an adopter Facebook group, and recommends working with a certified behaviorist when needed.

After reviewing the return information, adopters who believe the rescue can accept a return should email returns@threelittlepittiesrescue.org.

Fees are donations toward a much larger investment. Typical hard costs are $412–$859 for a healthy dog and $1,120 or more for a heartworm-positive dog. Extended boarding, training, dental, vision, and orthopedic care can raise costs into the thousands; $200 of the fee supports transport to the PNW or East Coast.

Dogs may receive board-and-train support, leash work, individualized training, playgroups, a lifetime-registered microchip, martingale collar, and one year of heartworm prevention for adults six months and older. The rescue is not government-funded and relies on private gifts and grants.
